AI Disclosure for YouTube Creators
If you use AI to generate footage, voices, faces or scripts in your videos, YouTube may require you to label your content as altered or synthetic. This guide explains the current rules in plain English and helps you create a compliant disclosure in under 30 seconds.
The current rules
YouTube's "Altered or Synthetic Content" policy requires creators to disclose when realistic content is made with AI — for example a synthetic voice, an AI face-swap, or footage of a real place or event that did not actually happen. You add the label in YouTube Studio when uploading, and YouTube shows a disclosure in the video description (or on the video itself for sensitive topics like health, news, and elections).
